Training courses

The doctoral school and the University of Bordeaux provide doctoral candidates with training courses that contribute to their research projects and career plans as well as courses needed to develop a broad scientific culture.

Projet Agenda Eau - IdEx Bordeaux @ Cled'12 Projet Agenda Eau - IdEx Bordeaux @ Cled'12

As part of their PhD program, doctoral candidates should work with their thesis supervisor to establish a skills development program including:

  • Thematic modules designed to deepen their knowledge of specific scientific topics (tools, concepts) related to their research project
  • Elective modules on general topics to improve their future employability

This is an individual skills development plan that is approved by the doctoral school.

Courses offered by the doctoral school

GIS

At the end of this course, you will be able to manage a mapping project, including collection of data in the field, inclusion of geodetic information, data processing using a geographic information system (ArcGIS), linking to other information (aerial photos, satellite images, etc.), and the production of publishable cartographic documents.

Bayesian statistics

This course aims at providing the basics to formulate, fit and verify a Bayesian model using dedicated languages (Jags or Stan) compatible with R. Prerequisite: previous training in statistics and some basic knowledge of R.
